In the book Opposing Censorship in Public Schools: Religion, Morality, and Literature by June Edwards provides citation to the 2017 Attorney General of the United States Jeff Sessions’ opinion about the interpretation of the First Amendment. Mr. Sessions indicates that he feels that the separation of Church and State has been over emphasized and is beyond what the Constitutional Framers intended.
Mr. Sessions believes that the there does not need to be a separation and that religion can be imparted through the government. This fact is important as the US continues through 2017 or the next change of ruling parties.
